Özlem joined ESMT European School of Management and Technology in January 2010 as an assistant professor. She received her PhD in Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) in Toulouse, France and also holds a MSc in Economic Theory and Econometrics with distinction from TSE. Before moving to Toulouse, Özlem obtained a BA in Economics and BSc in Mathematics from The Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey.

In 2009 Özlem was a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at École Polytechnique, Department of Economics, in Paris, France. During the fall of 2008, she visited the Simon Graduate School of Business, University of Rochester.

Özlem's research interests are mainly topics in industrial organization, competition economics, and regulation. In particular, her research focuses on pricing in two-sided markets, vertical relationships, contract theory, and antitrust issues related to buyer power.

As a part-time visiting scholar, Özlem has been working with the Research Department-Financial Stability Wing of Norges Bank (the central bank of Norway).

Özlem is teaching a full-time MBA elective course on “Competitive and Dynamic Pricing”. She also teaches a part of Industrial Organization and Regulation in Vertical Markets at the Berlin Doctoral Program in Economics and Management Science (BDPEMS).

For the calendar years of 2011, 2012, and 2013 Özlem is the coordinator of the Faculty Research Seminar (FRS) together with Stefan Wagner.
