Analysis of bundling contracts in the outdoor advertising industry

In the context of a sector inquiry by the Federal Cartel Office (FCO) into the outdoor advertising industry, E.CA wrote an expert opinion on several business practices in this industry. In its investigation, the FCO focussed in particular on the practice of municipalities of bundling on the one hand procurement contracts for the instalment of street furniture and their maintenance with, on the other hand, the right to use advertising space on these furniture. The E.CA expert opinion analysed the potential competitive concerns this practice could cause but also emphasised several efficiency gains that are the result of this bundling practice.
