Antitrust - Case 27

Assessment of the pricing behaviour of gasoline stations in Germany

We carried out an empirical analysis of retail gasoline prices in a major German city for an industry association. The study was prepared against the backdrop of a sector inquiry by the Federal Cartel Office (FCO). One of the main conclusions of the study was the presence of Edgeworth-Cycles in the price data. The study also found no empirical evidence for the FCO's findings of collective dominance in the retail gasoline market.
