Principal, E.CA Economics

Simone Kohnz is a principal at E.CA and has provided assistance and economic advice concerning mergers, cases of abuse of dominance, vertical and horizontal agreements and state aid questions. In particular, Simone Kohnz has worked on buyer power issues in merger analysis (e.g. REWE/ Adeg) as well as abuse of dominance cases or sector inquiries (e.g. UK grocery markets investigation). She has extensive experience with the analysis of rebate schemes (e.g. Austrian joint venture Styria/Moser) and worked on a number of complex vertical issues (e.g. in relation to the motor vehicle block exemption, long term supply contracts in the chemical industry or the vertical merger TomTom/TeleAtlas). She has provided economic advice for a variety of industries such as industrial and consumer goods as well as media markets.

Furthermore, Simone Kohnz has worked on a number of regulatory cases investigating the impact of net neutrality regulation as well as the impact of barriers to entry regulation in professional services (pharmacies and the legal profession). Apart from industry clients, Simone Kohnz has worked on reports for governmental bodies such as the UK Home Office or the UK Department for Constitutional Affairs as well as for the Austrian Cartel Court.

Prior to joining E.CA Simone Kohnz was an Analyst at the European Competition Practice of the economics consultancy NERA, London. She holds a PhD in bargaining theory from the University of Munich.
