Dr Simon Miegielsen is a senior economist in E.CA’s Brussels office. Since joining E.CA in 2014, Simon has worked on various cases in the field of competition economics, related to cartels, mergers and antitrust matters. His work has spanned several industries, including airfreight, retailing, payment instruments and manufacturing.
Prior to joining E.CA, Simon completed a PhD in industrial economics at the University of Leuven. His dissertation is entitled “Essays on Information and Competition”, and considers the impact of social networks on competition and the rationale for so-called “hub-and-spoke” collusive agreements.
During his PhD he was a teaching assistant for several courses at graduate level, including “Game Theory and Information Economics” and “The Economics of Competition Policy”.
