Book Launch - EU State Aid Control - Law and Economics

Following the publication of their book “EU State Aid Control – Law and Economics”, Vincent Verouden (E.CA Economics) and Philipp Werner (Jones Day) hosted a book launch event in Brussels on 8th  February 2017. Welcoming remarks were made by Gert-Jan Koopman, Deputy Director-General for State Aid, European Commission.

The book, published by Wolters Kluwer, provides a critical assessment by leading State aid lawyers and economists of the current status of EU State aid control.

Hans W. Friederiszick presented at the BMWi-Workshop on 22nd November 2016 in Berlin.
His presentation was titled “How to define the relevant market? Open issues for market definition in digital markets – a practitioner’s view.“ (in German).

M&A Seminar at ESMT Schloß Gracht

Hans W. Friederiszick contributed to the M&A Seminar organized by ESMT on 17TH November 2016. In his session he gave an introduction to economic analysis in competition law proceedings and its interaction with the commercial  M&A process.

Hans W. Friederiszick was panelist at the GCR Live 8th Competition Litigation in Düsseldorf on 3rd November 2016.

His presentation focused on the German approach of antitrust in e-commerce.

Conference on State Aid Control: Where Law and Economics Meet

Hans W. Friederiszick chaired and Vincent Verouden spoke at the Lexxion Conference on State Aid Control: Where Law and Economics Meet, at the VUB in Brussels on 30 September 2016.
Different panels of experts discussed various topics as: Ex post evaluations of State aid, the economics of State aid to infrastructure, State aid in tax and international Treaties, the Market Economy Investor test, Theories of harm in State aid Control, International competitiveness.
